Our directors and executive officers, through involvement in local community groups and service organizations, are uniquely qualified to support the marketing plan, which is focused on the credit and banking needs of small and medium size businesses and individual customers in Honolulu. Our marketing strategy is based on our ability to respond quickly to customer needs and changes in the market place.
The bank offers a full array of competitively priced loan and deposit products, as well as other services delivered either directly or through strategic alliances with other providers. The products offered are aimed at both business and individual customers in our target market. |

Wayne T. Miyao
Mr. Miyao, a director since the Bank’s inception in January 2007 and currently the Bank’s Vice-Chairman of the Board and interim President and Chief Executive Officer, has over thirty-four (34) years of Hawaii banking experience and was born and raised in Hawaii. Most recently, from 1998 to 2004, he served as Senior Vice President in the Corporate Communications Division of City Bank, which was acquired and merged into Central Pacific Bank during the latter part of 2004. Mr. Miyao served City Bank in many executive capacities, including Executive Vice President of the Retail Banking Division and Senior Vice President of the Marketing Division. Mr. Miyao is active in many community and charitable organizations. He is the past Chairman of the Board for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii Board of Governors,
and Kuakini Foundation. Mr. Miyao also served as a Trustee with the State of Hawaii’s Employees’ Retirement System and on the Board of Governors of the East-West Center. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the 50th anniversary commemoration of the sister city relationship between the City and County of Honolulu and the City of Hiroshima.
With his many community ties, extensive executive banking experience and expertise, Mr. Miyao brings considerable marketing, retail banking, asset generation and community relations experience to Ohana Pacific Bank. Mr. Miyao is a graduate of the University of Hawaii, School of Business, the School of Bank Marketing and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Robert Kamemoto
Mr. Robert M. Kamemoto currently serves as the Bank’s Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer, effective January 2007. Mr. Kamemoto has over thirty (30) years of banking experience. Between 1980 and 2007, Mr. Kamemoto served in various executive positions with Central Pacific Bank, Honolulu, Hawaii, including Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Officer, Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Administrator, Senior Vice President and Senior Manager – Financial Services Division. Previous to this, he served as the Assistant Branch Manager for Finance Factors, Ltd., Honolulu, Hawaii, an industrial loan company from 1975
to 1980. Mr. Kamemoto received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Stanford University, a Master in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
Helen H.K. Kwok
Ms. Helen H. K. Kwok currently serves as the Bank’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective June 2007. Ms. Kwok has over twenty (20) years of banking experience. Prior to joining Ohana Pacific Bank, Ms. Kwok served in executive positions with Central Pacific Bank, Honolulu, Hawaii and formerly City Bank, Honolulu, Hawaii as Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Administrator of the Credit Administration Division. Previously, she served as the Chief Financial Officer of International Savings and Loan, Honolulu, Hawaii, auditor for former Coopers & Lybrand, CPAs and various management positions in loan review, credit
administration and audit divisions of First Interstate Bank, Honolulu, Hawaii. Ms. Kwok received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Donald B.S. Kang - Chairman of the Board
Mr. Donald B. S. Kang, a director since the Bank’s inception in January 2007 and currently the Chairman of the Board, is the owner and operator of Royal Hawaiian Creations and Pomare, Ltd. dba Hilo Hattie. Mr. Kang has lived in Honolulu since 1981 and is an entrepreneur with extensive manufacturing, retail, international import/export, and real estate investment experience. Mr. Kang’s businesses include the largest manufacturer and wholesaler of garments in the State of Hawaii. Mr. Kang is the recipient of several awards including: the Business Leadership Award from the Wall Street Journal in 2002 and 2003; the Minority Businessman of the Year Award, West Region of Manufacturer, from the U.S. Government for 1998; and, the Minority Businessman of the Year Award from the State of Hawaii for 1997. Mr. Kang has strong business contacts and provides business, management, and asset generation experience to Ohana Pacific Bank.

Hyung K. Cha - Director
Mr. Cha, a director since the Bank’s inception in January 2007, is an insurance broker with Pyramid Insurance with over twenty (20) years of experience. Mr. Cha is involved in various professional community organizations and has received numerous awards and recognition for his achievement and contributions in the insurance field, including the Hall of Fame Award (by AXA Equitable Life), induction as a charter member of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow, membership in the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and membership in the Million Dollar Round Table (more than twenty (20) years). He also holds various insurance
licenses from the State of Hawaii. Mr. Cha has lived in Hawaii for over thirty (30) years, and is significantly involved with Hawaii’s Korean-American community including as Charter Secretary, President & Zone Chairman of the Hibiscus Lions Club, Vice-President and Director of the Korean United Society of Hawaii, Director and Secretary of the Korean-American Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii and board member of the Hawaii Council for the Humanities. Mr. Cha is well known with a strong list of contacts in the Korean-American community and provides strong marketing, asset generation, financial, risk management and community relations experience to
Mr. Cha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (1965) and Master of Public Administration degree (1972) from the Yonsei University in Seoul Korea and now serves as the President of the Yonsei Alumni Association of Hawaii.
Nicole I. Choi - Director
Ms. Choi, a director since the Bank's inception, is a licensed realtor with the Hawaii Association of
Realtors and has been a resident of the State of Hawaii since 1969. She is a partner with Prudential Locations, L.L.C., and has approximately twenty-three years of real estate experience. During this time, she has won several industry awards and designations including: the Top Partner/Associate Partner of the Year Award; Top 1% out of all Honolulu Hawaii Realtors for 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005; and the Chairman's Circle Award in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005 (top ranking award for all national Prudential real estate agents). In 2002, Ms. Choi also received the Legends Award, representing recognition for obtaining the Chairman's Circle Award for the fifth time. Ms. Choi is also a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Honolulu Board of Realtors. Ms. Choi earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hawaii in 1976. She has strong ties to the Honolulu real estate community and provides sound real estate, marketing, and asset generation experience to the Bank.
Wayne T. Ishihara - Director
Mr. Ishihara, a director since 12/1/08 has over thirty-seven (37) years of Hawaii banking experience and was born and raised in Hawaii. He served as Senior Vice President from 1984 to 2008 with American Savings Bank. Prior to his retirement he was responsible for Bank Operations. Mr. Ishihara is presently the President of the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Mr. Ishihara is active in many community and charitable organizations. He is the past Chairman of the Board for the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce. He has served as past President of the Hawaii Jaycees, Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce, Mililani YMCA and Kanoelani PTA. He has also served on the Board of Japan America Society of Hawaii, United Japanese Society, Japanese American Research Center, Kalihi Business Association and Hawaii Mental Health Association. Mr. Ishihara is a graduate of Chaminade University with a B.A. in Marketing and the Savings and Loan school for executive development at the University of Washington.
David H. Jung - Director
Mr. Jung, a director since the Bank’s inception, is an Executive Vice President and the General Counsel for Pomare, Ltd. dba Hilo Hattie, one of Hawaii's oldest and largest retailer of Hawaiian merchandise operating seven stores throughout the state. Mr. Jung graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Law in 1989 and is licensed to practice law in the state of Hawaii. He is considered a 1.5 generation Korean and has been a resident of Hawaii since 1990. From 1999 to 2007, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Greater Pacific, L.P. where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company’s acquisition and development activities. Prior to joining Greater Pacific, L.P., he was a partner with the Law Firm of Strack, Nii, Sphikas, Kosins & Jung. During his seven years at the law firm, he primarily focused on commercial real estate matters for foreign and domestic lenders. He has considerable experience analyzing, restructuring, negotiating workouts and enforcing creditors’ remedies. Mr. Jung provides the Bank with extensive legal, commercial real estate development, loan workout expertise, and asset generation.
Rex K.C. Kim - Director
Mr. Kim, a director since the Bank’s inception in January 2007, is a second generation Korean in Hawaii. Mr. Kim is the principal member of the Rex K. C. Kim law firm. Mr. Kim is also a member of the State of Hawaii Judicial Council which advises the courts of the State of Hawaii in the administration of Justice. He was also appointed to the State of Hawaii’s Commemorative Quarter Advisory Commission which reviewed and recommended proposed designs for the State of Hawaii’s commemorative quarter coin as part of the United States Treasury Department’s “50 States Commemorative Coin Program.” In 1986, he graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Kim received a law degree from the University of
Hawaii in 1989 and is a member of the Hawaii State Bar. Mr. Kim serves on a number of volunteer organizations serving the Korean and larger communities in the State of Hawaii, including as the President of the Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kim was born and raised in Hawaii, has strong ties to the Korean-American community and brings a strong business community and legal background to Ohana Pacific Bank.
Roy Y. Morihara- Director
Mr. Morihara, a director since the Bank’s inception in January 2007, was born and raised in Hawaii. Mr. Morihara recently retired as Managing Partner of the Honolulu Office of Grant Thornton LLP, a national public accounting firm where he has served in various capacities for over forty (40) years. Mr. Morihara is active in many community and charitable organizations. He is a member of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and a former member of the budget and finance committee; a member of the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and is chairman of the audit committee; a member of the governing board and treasurer of the Hawaii Kai Community Church; former treasurer and member of the Historic Hawaii Foundation;
and member and former member of the board of directors for Mid Pacific Country Club.
Mr. Morihara received his undergraduate degree from the University of Hawaii in 1965.
Eileen Sakai - Director
Ms. Sakai, a director since October 2008, was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from Farrington High School, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, with a BBA in Management.
Ms. Sakai retired from the Bank of Hawaii as a Senior Vice President. Her thirty two (32) year career with the Bank offered her many opportunities in the branch system, lending, credit approval, sales/service & credit training, commercial banking, project management and process improvement initiatives. Through the Bank, she had the opportunity to attend the Pacific Coast Banking School on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and The National Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Ms. Sakai is President of the Sons & Daughters of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and is active with the 442nd Veterans Club. She is also serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Hawaii Japanese American Veterans Collection, and the Go For Broke National Education Center in Hawaii.
Soung Ho Yoon - Director
Mr. Soung H. Yoon, a director, is President of the Palama Supermarket in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Yoon is active in many community and charitable organizations. Mr. Yoon is the past President of the Korea University Alumni Association of Hawaii and the past President of the Pai Chai School Alumni Association of Hawaii. He also served as Vice President of the Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce and KCB-TV. Mr. Yoon is currently the Chairperson of the Hawaii Father School, and Lay Elder of the Aiea Korean United Methodist Church. Mr. Yoon graduated from the Korea University at Seoul Korea with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. Mr. Yoon has strong business contacts and will provide marketing, advertising and community relations experience to Ohana Pacific Bank.
